Vaccine hubs at Wollongong, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven hospitals hit a combined milestone of 20,000 COVID vaccinations late last month.

The hospitals, which administer the Pfizer vaccine, opened their doors in March and initially focused on those in phase 1A and 1B of the national rollout including health care, quarantine and border workers and emergency workers.
In late May it was announced the three hospital hubs were among 25 Pfizer sites across the state now taking bookings for residents aged between 40 and 49.
Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Executive Director Nursing & Midwifery and Clinical Governance Deborah Cameron thanked those who were already fully vaccinated, those who'd had their first shot, or who had registered for their vaccine.
"We are seeing a strong and steady response across the district to the vaccination roll-out, with all our clinics operating at full capacity, and I'd like to take the opportunity to acknowledge our staff working in our vaccine clinics for their ongoing hard work and commitment," she said.
"The vaccination roll-out, like the public health response to the pandemic so far, requires the support of the public to ensure it is successful and that the most vulnerable members of our community are vaccinated first, in line with the priority groups set out by the Federal Government.
"Vaccination is voluntary and free. Everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated when it's their turn to help protect themselves, their family and the NSW community from COVID-19."
Ms Cameron said the NSW Government was working closely with the Federal Government to safely deliver the COVID-19 Vaccination Program as quickly as possible.
"If you have any questions about COVID-19 vaccination you should speak with your local GP," she said. "They are best placed to help you make an informed decision."
