At the Huskisson Sporting Field, goals from Craig Boyce and Gary Masterson, in the 32nd and 38th minutes respectively, secured all three points for the hosts.
Basin skipper Brenden Hobbs scored a late consolation goal for the Dragons in the 90th minute.
The Seagulls, who have now won three of their past four, move onto 15 points, just one behind fourth-placed Manyana - who downed southern rivals Milton-Ulladulla 1-nil.

Billy Wallington opened the account's of Trevor Skingle's troops in the 22nd minute before goals either side of half-time by Lewis Archibald, rounded out the 3-nil victory.
The final game of the weekend was won by Shoalhaven Heads-Berry, who outlasted Illaroo 3-2 at Sharman Park.
Skipper Scott Culey, Nathan Thomas and Matthew White found the back of the net for the visitors, while Roos captain Evan Leedham and an own-goal were on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Second-placed Bomaderry had the bye in round nine.
Following these results, United move onto 22 points, ahead of Bomaderry (19), Milton (17), Manyana (16), Huskisson (15), Heads (13), Basin (10), Callala (10) and Illaroo (nine).
Looking ahead, following the long weekend off, Saturday, June 19 will see Bomaderry take on Basin, Huskisson battle Milton, Manyana lock horns with Illaroo and Heads host Callala, with United having the bye.
