Shoalhaven City Council began upgrade works on the former supper room building on May 31.
A council spokesperson said the works will include repairing and repainting the external cladding, windows, external doors, and hardware, replacing external lighting, and installing a concrete landing to the northern exit door.
"The works are expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting," the spokesperson said.
Scaffolding has been erected at the site to allow the work to the carried out.

A security fence has also been put in place around the building for the duration of the work.
The work will retain the building's "heritage look".
Council has also submitted a development application to demolish and reinstate the undercover walkway in the existing location.
Those works are set to start in the new financial year.
