Sponsored by PsychoHealth, Jervis Bay Brewing Co, PhychoBucha and Jervis Bay Mussels, this year's Jervis Bay World Oceans Day will be held at Jervis Bay Brewing Co on Tuesday, June 8 from 5pm.
Each year on June 8, people all over the world attend locally organised events to fundraise for the protection and restoration of our blue planet.
Mrs Winberg said World Oceans Day was an important day because it was an opportunity to reflect on the challenges and changing systems in our ocean, and to reset our own internal awareness that the choices we make each day could have an impact on improving our oceans.
"There are net benefits to our local oceans and to our own health when we choose to eat our local mussels, oysters and seaweed," said Mrs Winberg.
"There is also a lot we still need to learn about our coastal ecosystems and to create a broader awareness of.
"That is why we have chosen to donate profits from the Worlds Oceans Day cook up in Huskisson to the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) in their efforts to achieve this."
PsychoHealth will match every dollar donation to AMCS during World Oceans Day this year "so we can double the impact in caring for our oceans" said Mrs Winberg.
Some of the projects the AMSC focus on are addressing the plastic pollution issues, saving our sharks, sustainable seafood, marine protected areas and threatened marine species; all things which are directly relevant to our own backyard.
