At the Mount Annan Leisure Centre, both division two men's sides traded baskets in the first quarter, before the hosts jumped out to a 17-12 lead at quarter-time.
Three straight scores by the Tigers saw them regain the lead before the Wildfire hit back with a 21-10 run to end the period - to give the hosts a 38-30 advantage at half-time.
Showing true Tiger-spirit, Shoalhaven fought back in the third, to be only done by one point in the closing stages.
But a late Liam Matthews' three-pointer saw the Wildfire go into the final break up for four (51-47).
The hosts carried this momentum into the final period, as they stretched their lead out to as many as 10 points midway through the term.
The black and gold managed to get it back to a two-possession game soon after but that proved to be as close as they got, as the hosts held on for an eight-point win.
In the loss, Dane Jensen (20 points) and Bruce Ozolins (15) reached double-figures for the Tigers.
Shoalhaven, who are now fourth with a 4-2 record, host Newcastle on Saturday, from 6pm at the new Den.
