In a low-scoring first quarter, baskets were hard to come by, as the Tigers led 12-9 at the first break.
Both teams started to warm up in the second, as each team started to find their grooves offensive.
Despite the hosts' best efforts, the Cubs retained the lead (29-27) going into half-time.
The lead changed hands numerous times in the third, as both teams knew how important the win would be for their finals chances.
At the end of the third quarter, the hosts led 46-44.
The back and forth contest continued in the forth before the black and golds hit the front (56-54) with 2.50 on the clock.
This proved pivotal, as Ben Morris' division two youth men's side never relinquished the lead, to run out seven-point winners.
The win, which moves the Tigers into third with a 5-1 record, was set up by Brayden Morris (17 points) and Jordan Bandur (15).
Next up for the Cubs is a home fixture against the 2-4 Moss Vale Magic - tipping off at 4pm Saturday at the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre.
