After playing "the worst game of golf" she's ever played, a Sanctuary Point woman's day has been turned around by a last-minute decision to play a game of Keno.
The New South Wales woman held a Keno Classic 9 Spot winning entry in draw 145 on Monday 3 May 2021, scoring her $337,168.10.
"I played golf earlier - possibly the worst game of golf I've ever played. Thankfully, the day got better," the winning woman explained to a Keno official.
"I play six numbers all the time - they're just family birthdays. But I saw the 9 Spot prize was getting high so I thought I would give it a go. You've got to be in it to win it!
"I didn't even see it go off or anything, and I was just on my way out when I checked my tickets.
"When they told me I'd won, I just started to cry and shake!
"I had to buy myself a drink. It was the most nervous drink I've had in my life!"
When asked how she might enjoy her Keno fun money, the happy winner confessed she would need some time to digest the win.
"I'm very shocked. I don't know what I'm going to do with the prize at this stage, but I'm sure it will be something good," she admitted.
"First, I have to tell my husband. He'll be so excited!"
The winning entry was purchased at The Country Club St Georges Basin, 11 Paradise Beach Road, Sanctuary Point.
The Country Club St Georges Basin manager Chris Lane said it was great to see a big win land in the venue.
"The previous big win was a few years ago and it was someone passing by, so it's great to see this one won by a loyal customer," he said.
"It was an exciting time when the win happened and I'm sure it's something we'll talk about for years to come!"
In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.
