Culburra Beach's Tyler Wright, who is through to round three of the Margaret River Pro, is in the running to win yet another Female Surfer of the Year prize - a gong she won in both 2017 and 2018.
The former St Johns student will be up against Avoca's Macy Callaghan and Shelley Beach's Molly Picklum for the award.
While Ulladulla's Russell Bierke is chasing his third-straight Big Wave Award after being nominated alongside Sydney's Laura Enever and Curl Curl's Chris Lougher for the prize.
The former Ulladulla High School student is also in contention for the Nikon Surf Video of the Year - a prize he and Ulladulla's Andrew Kaineder won in 2020 with Flow State.
The pair's collaboration called First Name in the Water | Russ Bierke is up against Spencer Frost's - A Corner of the Earth and Tom Jennings' Spirit starring Jay Davies for the national prize.
The Tuesday, May 4 evening at the Surfers Paradise, which will also see Mick Fanning inducted into the Australian Surf Hall of Fame, will see 13 awards handed out including in the Male Surfer of the Year (Morgan Cibilic, Jack Robinson, Max McGillivray and Reef Heazlewood), Rising Star Award - Female (Sierra Kerr, Nyxie Ryan and Ellie Harrison) and Rising Star Award - Male (Joel Vaughn, Lennix Smith and Jarvis Earle) categories.
Another award set to be presented is the Surf Culture Award where Mollymook's Pam Burridge stars in Chris Nelius' Girls Can't Surf - with them pitted against Tracks Magazine's 50 Years and Vaughan Blakey's Postcards From Morgs and Free Scrubber for the gong.
Wrapping up the night will be categories such as the ASB Greater Good Award (Mike Durante, Ron Clarke, Jenna Clarke - Surf February, Tahlia Anderson - Surfing The Spectrum and Cooper Chapman - The Good Human Factory), Peter Troy Lifetime Award (Martin Tullemans, Matt Grainger and Sandra English), Coach Of The Year (Clancy Dawson, Adam Robertson and Stacey Galbraith), ACCIONA Innovation Award (URBN Surf Melbourne, Surf Better Now and Surf Lakes), Simon Anderson Club Award (North Shelly Boardriders and Queenscliff Boardriders Club) and Indigenous Surfing Community Celebration Award (Otis Carey, Naru Indigenous Corporation, Soli Bailey and Jalaan Slabb).
