Sport has an incredibly positive impact on physical and mental health - whether it's playing, coaching, officiating or socialising as part of an active community, getting involved in sport is a game-changer.
And a South Coast arm of the organisation is being launched.
VSA is set to kick off its local activities with a Defence and Family Bowls Day at the Shoalhaven Heads Bowling and Recreation Club on Sunday, May 23.
Bowls is one of the most popular sports in Australia, and it's easy to see why.
A sport for all ages and abilities with regular competitions and great social connections on and off the green.

Veteran engagement specialist Debbie Dimmock said VSA connects veterans and their families from around the country with sporting opportunities and supports ongoing involvement.
"We work with sports, veteran focused organisations and veteran and community groups to break down barriers to participation and open up new opportunities," she said.
The aim is to empower veterans and their families to get active by developing stronger connections in their communities.
Locally, VSA is set to partner with the Keith Payne VC Veterans Benefit Group (KPVCVBG).
The Keith Payne Group has already established Operation Walk to Talk, which meets twice a week for veterans and members of the public, to as the name suggests, enjoy a walk and a talk - followed of course, by a cup of coffee.
The group has also more recently been heavily involved in the Veterans Surf Program launched on the South Coast, which has proven extremely popular.
Chairman Rick Meehan said it was exciting for the group to be associated with VSA.
"We've had several meetings and will be meeting with the CEO Michael Hartung to discuss many fundraising initiatives and ideas we currently run, with views to expand nationally," Mr Meehan said.
"This is truly exciting time for us overall."
The free bowls day on May 23 will run from 10.30am to 1pm and as well as bowls will feature a jumping castle, family friendly activities, bowls coaching and information on how to get involved with VSA.
The event is for all serving, former serving and families of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Lunch will be provided at 12.30pm.
