The Wednesday, April 7 match started with Roseby Park winning the toss and opting to field.
The police were sent in to bat and were off to a reasonable start. Action came to a momentary end when the rain came. While the game was put on pause, it gave plenty of time for participants and spectators to catch up.
Fortunately the sun came out once again and bats and the game went on. Police continued with the batting on a very slow and soggy oval.
Eventually police were all out for 103 runs. Roseby Park came out to bat and it wasn't long before cricket balls were flying over the ropes for 4's and 6's.
Eventually with a few overs left, Roseby Park took the game by smashing a six over the Western boundary.
When the umpire signaled a six, it also signaled the demise of the South Coast PD's winning aspirations.
After a well-deserved sausage sizzle, all participants stood and watched whilst the inaugural trophy was presented to Rod Carpenter, the captain of the Roseby Park team.
The South Coast may not have brought home the trophy this year but a great time was had by all.
