Aaron Hertsch's side opened with a 26-4 win against Western, before rattling off regular-season victories against Macarthur Wests Tigers (24-22), Monaro Colts (18-12), Riverina Bulls (20-10) and North Coast Bulldogs (18-16).

"Our success so far is a reflection of how hard these boys have trained since November," Hertsch, who coached some of this squad at an under 14s level where his Illawarra side won the Country Rugby League plate final, said.

"Every single one of them has bought in since day one and turn up to each session and game ready to learn.

"That sort of attitude goes a long way."

These five wins cemented the red and whites spot in the semi-finals, where they easily accounted for North Coast 22-nil on Saturday.

"Although Saturday was one of our best performances thus far, we still haven't turned in a complete 60-minute game - I look forward to when that happens," first year Dragons coach Hertsch said.

"There's a couple of aspects we will be concentrating on at training this week, such as where we run our lines, completing our sets and not getting caught up going one-out and playing expansive footy - because we like to have multiple shots at the line per set.

"The group are super resilient and fit and never give up to the final whistle.

"They showed, despite the wet conditions last week, they are prepared to do whatever it takes to win as a team.

"Obviously ball control will be at a premium if the wet weather returns but we won't be using that as an excuse - it's up to us to execute our plays and stick to our structures."

If they are to complete their perfect Andrew Johns Cup campaign at HE Laybutt Field from 11am on Saturday, they are going to have to knock-off fellow undefeated side Central Coast, who downed Monaro 18-nil in the other semi-final.

"Although we haven't played them during the season, we did have a trial game against them earlier in the season, as well as me watching plenty of video of how they like to play," Hertsch said.

"Much like us, they like to play off the back of a quick play-the-ball, instigated by their hooker [Malachi Smith], who brings the side onto the ball well.

"They also have a dangerous back-rower, who plays as a second five-eighth that we will be to be wary of.

"We will have our hands full but I know the boys will be up for the challenge."

If the Dragons, who will feature Cooper Harrison, Caleb Hall, Bailey Marks, Seth Pearman (all Gerringong), Dextar Grant (Stingrays), Ashton O'Dea (Albion Park-Oak Flats) and Byron Pitt (Shellharbour) from Group Seven, are in front when the final siren sounds, Hertsch admits it will be very special to the whole side.

"You can measure success in all different ways - it would be great to win but I'm essentially here to bring these kids along and give them a chance to succeed as best they can, which I believe I have done this year," he said.

"I know lifting that trophy would mean a lot for the team and my coaching staff but if the kids go out there and do their best, that's all I can ask at the end of the day."
