His side will first play Tasmania in a One-Day Cup fixture at Hobart's Blundstone Arena, in a top of the table clash.
Josh Hazlewood (rested) and Jack Edwards (side strain) have been replaced in the squad by Harry Conway and Daniel Hughes for this fixture from the one that was due to play Western Australia in Sunday's wash-out at North Sydney Oval.
Hughes returns to the squad having recovered from a shoulder injury suffered in a Shield game two weeks ago.
Two days later, the Blues will take on Tasmania in a Sheffield Shield match.
Test squad members David Warner, Josh Hazlewood and Moises Henriques have earned a rest, allowing the call up of youngsters Liam Hatcher, Gilkes and Lachlan Hearne to the 14-player NSW Blues squad - with the young trio all being in solid touch in either List-A or second Xl cricket in recent weeks.
Experienced opener Daniel Hughes also returns to the squad having missed the Blues' miraculous last hour win over South Australia in Adelaide last week with a shoulder complaint.
If 20-year-old Hearne is to earn a berth in the starting Xl for the clash with the Tigers it will be his first Baggy Blue cap.
The Blues contingent features five players who have worn the Baggy Green of Australia in Test cricket, as well as bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott who was part of the Test squad for this summer's series against India and is currently sixth on the run-scoring list in this season's Sheffield Shield.
