The SDFA is proud to further promote a different but exciting and unique concept of the world game.
It will kick-off with come and try nights on March 12, 19 and 26 before the launch of a 10-week program from April 19.
"We are excited to offer this fun and engaging sport at the Bomaderry centre," said competition manager Brad Banks.
"We are excited to welcome back both existing and new participants to once again become physically active and engage with the community in our fun and social environment.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the people around us in a safe and positive space.
"Especially after the past 12 months with bushfires, floods and of course COVID-19.
"Walking football is for everyone, so whether you are brand new to football or have been playing the game since you were born, we look forward to seeing you all back on the field in this new format of the sport that we all love."
SDFA president Ian Cockburn echoed Bank's sentiments as he equally was anticipating what will be a huge season for the exciting new football format.
"Walking Football is a prime opportunity for individuals looking to either start their playing journey, remain in the game or to socialise in the local community," he said.
"Within SDFA, it is our strategic approach and focus to provide as many varied football opportunities for all across the region - and walking football is another one of those offers.
"Our dynamic Futsal management team will be offering this program as part of their Indoor programs, so the winter weather will not be an issue and participants can enjoy social interactions in the centre's coffee shop.
"Walking Football not only improves the players' physical capabilities but also provides a focus on developing confidence, friendships and self-esteem - which in turn supports mental wellbeing.
"This is something we are very passionate about, promoting strong mental health and community bonds.
"After a challenging year for all in the community, we look forward to introducing a fun opportunity which appeals and caters for the needs and demands of all individuals looking to play sport."
