Peter King is the type of person who is always willing to help a good cause and important community organisations.
He will use his impressive mane of hair to support and raise funds for the Cancer Outpatients Appeal Milton Ulladulla Incorporated.
"I have decided to chop off my locks to raise funds and awareness for the Cancer Outpatients Appeal Milton Ulladulla Incorporated," he said.
"This organisation supports many locals who are undergoing much-needed treatment, with a large portion of the people who assist in this organisation being local volunteers and without them we wouldn't have this service.
"So in mid-March I will be shaving off the locks, and from there the hair will be donated to Sustainable Salons, who create wigs for cancer patients who have lost their hair due to treatment."
Now Peter, who now plays cricket for Nowra in the first-grade competition and previously for Milton/Ulladulla, does have an impressive amount of hair and it's been about six years since he had a proper hair cut.
He did have a "trim" in August 2019.
Peter chose to support the Cancer Outpatients Appeal because he knows and works with people who make use of the centre.
"If you are able to spare any donations to support this local organisation it would be greatly appreciated," Peter said.
All proceeds go directly to the Outreach Appeal and go here to donate.
Peter wanted to support a place that cares for people he cares about.
To make the hair donation to Sustainable Salons worthwhile Peter's hair needs to be at least 36 centimetres in length.
It's now 40 centimetres long.
"I have had no second thoughts about this," Peter said.
His friends and family, along with people he does not know, are all backing him.
"I have a few random people say 'good on you'," Peter said suggesting people saw his online post.
