Following the recent signings of brothers Will and George Miller, William Ridley, Nico Redolatti and Ian Zunckel, many have Shoals pegged for the best season since the 2008 premiership and the signs were well and truly positive at Camden on Saturday.
Paul Connor's troops opened the competition with impressive wins against the Naitasiri Highlanders (36-nil), Bathurst (38-nil) and Nabua Rugby (32-nil), before drawing their final pool match against the Pristine Warriors 14-all.
These results saw Shoals top their pool and progress to the semi-finals, where they downed the RA Roosters 19-10, to qualify for the big dance - which they also reached in 2020.
Unfortunately for Shoals, they came up against the red-hot Western Sydney Two Blues in the cup decider and went down 59-19.
Shoals will now turn their attentions to this weekend's Kiama Sevens, a tournament in which they won the bowl final in 2020.
