Neither team could find a winner during the 90 minutes, which saw the match head straight to penalties.
It was from the spot that Andy Lockard's Breakers showed their class, edging the Quarriers 4-1 to secure two competition points.
"We played well and were on top for the majority of the game," said Breakers coach Andy Lockard.
"The boys showed a commitment to stick to our structure and game plan.
"We've only been training for two weeks, so fitness let us down a little.
"But it's the pre-season and plenty of good signs to build on."
Elsewhere in round one, Thirroul defeated Albion Park City 3-nil, Tarrawanna downed Coniston 4-1, Wollongong United smashed South Coast United 6-1, Berkeley Sports edged Fernhill 5-4 on penalties after it ended 2-all, Bellambi overcame Cringila 2-1, University thumped Port Kembla 5-1, Dandaloo held their nerves 5-4 on penalties against Picton (after it finished nil-all), Helensburgh was too strong for Oak Flats 6-1, Bulli cruised past Corrimal 4-nil and Shell Cove and Warilla both needed penalties to defeat Unanderra (5-3 after finishing 1-all) and Balgownie (4-3 after finishing 1-all) respectively.
The Breakers next face Fernhill at Unanderra Oval from 12pm on Saturday, February 27.
