The three-day event last month saw more participants take to the park than any previous year, making it a huge on-field success but it was the objective of raising funds and awareness for suicide prevention initiatives that made it a true success story according to committee member Rod Broad.
"It was a very successful weekend, a lot of kids out on the field even though COVID through a spanner in the works," Broad said.
"We worked well with all out health partners to ensure we ran a COVID-safe event which we achieved.
"Personally I got to speak to most sides and just highlight the importance of looking after each other and checking up with each other and most people got the idea of why we came together.
"It might look like we're just there playing football, but we're delivering an important message.
"We're all familiar with the [Aboriginal] Knockout and the reason the older blokes started that up was to bring mob together for positive reasons. That's what we look to do with this event."
The Titans committee has now turned its attention to its other major event, the Kids in Care Cup, to be held in September. Invitations will soon be sent out for the event aimed at looking after kids in out-of-home care.
"Battle of the Countries is our biggest event but the Kids in Care [Cup] isn't far behind," Broad said.
"It's about supporting Aboriginal children currently in out-of-home care and not forgetting about these young kids that are in that system."
Having broadened its initiatives in recent years, the committee are moving to targeted participants to have the biggest impact in indigenous communities.
"The first part of it is to notify people that our events are now invitational events," Broad said.
"These are all long community relationships we've had with these teams over the years.
"We don't want them too big but, if you break it all down geographically, we have representation across the whole state of NSW which is our aim."
