The Shoalhaven has beat out Wroclaw, Poland and Mudgee for number eight position in Trip Advisor's top ten emerging world travel destinations. A Tripadvisor spokesperson said the list is largely based on the locations that Tripadvisor users are 'saving' on their accounts as places they plan to travel to. "Emerging Destinations showcase the spots travellers are most "saving" on Tripadvisor throughout the world," they said. "Different from the other categories, which highlight where travellers have already visited, the Emerging list identifies where they want to visit. These are the destinations travellers were dreaming of while they were stuck at home all year - and where they may go next." Mayor Amanda Findley credited the interest to the Shoalhaven's development over past years. "As a tourist destination, the Shoalhaven really has matured over the past decade," she said. "Our local businesses and tourism operators now offer world class experiences in dining, adventure and cultural experiences as well as the 100 beaches we are traditionally known for. "This accolade is really a tribute to our tourism businesses and the great experiences and the friendly service they offer."
