An inmate of the South Nowra Jail has been charged with firearm-related offences following an investigation into the activities of an alleged criminal syndicate operating across Sydney.

Last year, detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad uncovered a sophisticated criminal network involved in large-scale drug and firearm supply operating out of Sydney's south-west, as part of investigations into unsolved serious and organised crimes across NSW.
The 46-year-old man from Lilyfield in Sydney's Inner West was arrested and charged by investigators at the South Coast Correction Centre on November 4 and charged with three counts of supplying a prohibited firearm to an unauthorised person, three counts of supplying a firearm to person unauthorised to possess it and participating in a criminal group contribute criminal activity.
Police will allege in court that the man was involved in facilitating the acquisitions and supply of prohibited firearms across NSW.
The man was due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court today, Thursday, January 14.
So far during the investigation, two men - aged 38 and 35 - were arrested. They were both charged and remain before the courts.
