A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting police following a crash near Kiama yesterday.

About 6pm on Monday January 11, police were called to the Princes Highway at Dunmore, following reports of a single vehicle crash.
On arrival, officers from Lake Illawarra Police District located two men who were believed to be involved in the crash.
Police say as they attempted to speak with the men, one of them allegedly became aggressive and attempted to strike a male senior constable several times, before making numerous threats towards the officer.
"A search of the vehicle revealed cash, drugs and a knife," police media said.
"These items were seized for forensic examination.
"The 47-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with assault officer in execution of duty, possess prohibited drug, custody of knife in public place, intimidate police officer in execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen."
He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today on Tuesday, January 12.
Inquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
