Maddinson's comeback was good news for the Melbourne Stars following its Big Bash League loss against the Adelaide Strikers last night.
The Shoalhaven product had been sidelined with an ankle injury and made his return on Monday at the Adelaide Oval.
Maddinson, when the Stars elected to bat first, slotted into the middle order and ended having to play a key role for his team.
The loss of key batsmen like Glenn Maxwell [no runs] and Andre Fletcher 12 runs put pressure on Maddinson to make runs.
Maddinson top-scored for the Melbourne based side with an unbeaten 48 runs.
His runs came at a strike rate of 141.18 and included three maximums and two boundaries.
The Stars made 149 runs from its innings and the Strikers won the match by five wickets with an over to spare.
Maddinson, including a screamer to get rid of the dangerous Alex Carey, was sharp in the field and took two catches.
The Stars with 16 points sits in second-last place on the ladder.
The Stars and the Strikers do battle again on Friday at the MCG.
