Berry Show president Paul Evert said the show committee will meet next week to make its final decision.

"We have always said we would make a final call on the show two weeks out," he said.

A lot of things in our lives have had to change because of the COVID-19 pandemic and that includes annual shows.

He admitted it had been a challenging time not only for Berry but all show societies.

The Nowra Show Society announced over the weekend it was postponed due to COVID concerns, while the Kangaroo Valley Show Society announced the cancellation of its show late last year.

"We have been planning for the show to go ahead, albeit it in a much reduced way," Mr Evert said.

"When we were first faced with COVID concerns I suggested we should go to a smaller, more grass roots event, focusing on agriculture.

"We have done all our COVID plans and have registered them all with NSW Health etc.

"We are looking at a smaller two-day event, primarily an agricultural, horticultural and community judging event, without things like sideshow alley, night time entertainment including fireworks and no rodeo in an attempt to reduce crowds.

"We want to keep the event as local as possible, for the community - a celebration of the rural nature of Berry and districts."

It is envisaged if the show goes ahead it will run Friday and Saturday 7am until 5pm.

A preliminary program has been released featuring dairy and beef cattle judging, horse events, poultry judging and the ever-popular pavilion. A one day limited woodchop program will be staged with men's, ladies and junior competitions.

Limited food outlets will be available.

"The pandemic is still there and it is a struggle to keep our dedicated volunteers safe," Mr Evert said.

"We have a lot of older members who have already pulled out of this year's event but have said they will be back volunteering again next year.

"And I totally understand that.

"Socially, catching-up with friends is normally a good part of coming to the show, however, at this time physical distancing will also have to be undertaken.

"We'll just have to see what the committee meeting decision is next week."

Another major change is the event will be fully ticketed, presold.

"Tickets haven't been released yet, we are awaiting next week's decision."
