The Platypi was one of the inaugural teams that played in the Far South Coast Rugby Zone competition's maiden season in 1981.

With 2021 marking the 40-year anniversary of the competition, the league committee and Milton club thought it was appropriate to get the Frogs Holla-based club, as well as other former clubs such as Vincentia, Narooma and Bega, back onto the field.

"We now request expressions of interest in the Milton-Ulladulla area from potential players, supporters, committee and anyone in the area with an interest in rugby union," said South Coast Rugby Union president Peter Ryan.

"A casual meeting is planned for Thursday, December 3 at the Star Hotel, Milton commencing 6pm.

"It is important that persons keen to be involved but can't attend the meeting to still make contact."

South Coast Rugby Union, formerly Far South Coast Rugby Zone, boundaries run from Vincentia to Bega and also includes Braidwood.

During the COVID-19 affected 2020 season, the South Coast Monaro competition featured teams from Taralga, Jindabyne, Bungendore, Braidwood, Batemans Bay, Broulee and Yass.

In the lead-up to the season, the Monaro competition, in conjunction with the ACT Brumbies, will be running 10-a-side gala days at various venues from March.

"The 10s will give new clubs a chance to recruit players and get their club prepared for the season," Ryan said.

"10s rugby is a simpler format of the game, that is a great introduction to the rules and allows players of any size and ability to quickly understand and enjoy the game."
