It's 12 months on from the summer the South Coast will never forget.
On November 26, 2019, a blue icon appeared on the Fires Near Me app. Lightning had ignited a fire in the Currowan State Forest northwest of Batemans Bay.
The blaze would become known as the Currowan Fire and over the next few weeks would wreak havoc over much of the South Coast.

To mark the anniversary, the South Coast Register published a wraparound supplement in its Wednesday edition.
The supplement has stories about how the disaster unfolded, how the relief and recovery efforts played out and what lessons we have learned from the emergency.
