At Lighthouse Oval, the hosts sent Basin to the crease, seeing them post 185 from their 33.2 overs - led by Liam O'Brien (48) and Nathan Thorn (47).
With the ball, both Cooper Jones (3-24) and Caleb Murray (3-31) took three wickets for United.
In reply, double-figure starts by United's top five batsmen, including 59 from opener Rocky Lavalle, saw the hosts reach the target (7-186) in the 37th over.
Lavalle was well supported by Chris Corrin (26), Ryan Gilkes (24 not out), Matthew Moodley (22) and Matthew Shea (11) in United's first of the 2020-21 campaign.
Liam O'Brien (4-18) did all he could with the cherry in the loss.
The defeat sees the Dolphins drop to second on the ladder behind Bomaderry, who outlasted Nowra North-Cambewarra.
At Bomaderry Oval, the Tigers to bat first and made 167, thanks to Mathew Bell (31) and Tobias Hanger (30).
Marley Arthur and Daniel May took 4-17 and 3-38 respectively for Norths.
In Norths' chase, only three batsmen reached double figures, as they were all out for 77 in the 20th over.
May top-scored with 25, while Anthony Johnston dominated with the ball by taking 5-26.
Rounding out the top four, behind Bomaderry, Basin and Norths, is Nowra, who chalked up their first win of the season against Sussex Inlet.
At the Nowra Showground, Justin Wallace (39) and Brad Ison (38) steered the hosts to 138 from 37.1 overs.
For the visitors, Geoff Benning (3-10) and Deklin Matson (3-30) starred with the red ball.
In response, Sussex crumbled to be all out for just 39 in the 15th over, with Mitchell David top-scoring with 11.
John King took 4-1 off just 10 deliveries, while Ison finished with 4-23 in the comprehensive win.
The match of round four saw Berry-Shoalhaven Heads defeat Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens at the Berry Sports Complex.
The hosts chose to bat first and smashed 9-198 from their 40 overs, with Lachlan Duggan (63) hitting a half-century.
Gary Fuss took his season tally to eight wickets by taking 4-25, as Nash Connell chipped in with 3-42.
The Magpies' total proved too much, as only Harminder Singh (30), Paul Meakins (22) and Travis Fuss (20) reached double-figures, as Ex-Servos were rolled for 106.
Chris McCarron took 3-8 for the hosts, as both Duggan (2-6) and Mitchell Downey (2-16) claimed two scalps.
Looking ahead to round five, Nowra hosts Ex-Servos, Sussex takes on Bomaderry, Berry face United and Basin locks horns with Norths.
