The IMB Bank Community Foundation Grant recipients for 2020 have been announced, and include the Conjola Recovery group.
The grant is to support their hard work to rebuild the Conjola Park area, where lives were lost, and 89 homes destroyed by bushfires.
It will go towards the renovation and development of community facilities such as the children's playground, BBQ facilities, amenities, upgrading the wharf, and the installation of a memorial.
"The devastation of the fire created a need to unite and uplift the people of Conjola," said Lindy Dunn from the Conjola Community Recovery Association.
"We are working to rebuild a more resilient, connected and vibrant community. We're very grateful for the support."
Other grant recipients include:
- Marine Rescue NSW (Jervis Bay) - Funding will enable the purchase of two new vessel outboard motors.
- Coast and Country Community Services (Nowra) - Provide transport services for people who are disadvantaged, frail, and/or from low socio-economic circumstances.
- North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels - Expanding and upgrading of kitchen facilities and services.
- Wolumla Rural Fire Brigade - The grant will enable the purchase of a quick fill pump, which allows water tankers to quickly refill from large water sources during a bushfire emergency.
- Vinnies Bushfire Relief Fund - Rebuilding areas around the South Coast impacted by bushfires.
- SAGE Gardens, Moruya
Despite COVID-19 related disruptions, it was important to IMB Bank that its Community Foundation funding went ahead in 2020.
"This has been an extremely challenging year for everybody, and we felt it vital to continue our support for those who need it most," said Robert Ryan.
"We are proud to provide funding for these valuable community projects, and truly humbled to play a small part in their continued growth and success."
