On Tuesday, November 17, Nowra Local Court heard Tyler Douglas, of Nowra Hill, who owns a trucking business, smashed Roderick Maund Jnr's windscreen with a pair of bolt cutters after an altercation between the two men in Aldi.
Douglas, 47, who pleaded guilty to one charge of damage to property and one charge of common assault, runs between 32 and 40 trucks and employs about 62 people.
The court was told Douglas had done work for Mr Maund in the past, and that Mr Maund had not paid his account.
When the two saw each other outside Aldi on June 16 an argument ensued. Douglas called Mr Maund a "scumbag", and Mr Maund told Douglas he was "a piece of crap, mate".
Eventually, Mr Maund told Douglas to leave him alone, as he wanted to do his shopping.
Douglas followed him into the store where they continued to argue, before Douglas attempted to flick Mr Maund's glasses off his face.
At this time the store manager asked Douglas to leave and called the police.
CCTV captured Douglas leaving the store, approaching Mr Maund's ute and removing a tool from the tray of the ute, which he used to smash the windscreen.
Douglas has previously been convicted of separate assault and property damage charges.
Magistrate Gabriel Fleming urged him to seek help for anger management.
"This was two grown men in a public place where people take their kids," she said.
"This is ridiculous."
Douglas was ordered to pay $330 in compensation for Mr Maund's windscreen, fined $500 for each charge and placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
