But instead of plying his trade in Australia's NRL though, Morris will take on a challenge neither of his siblings has taken on.

That is playing rugby league in the United Kingdom, after penning a one-year deal with English Championship club Whitehaven.

"Playing overseas has been a goal I've been thinking about and working towards for a while," Morris said.

"I've always wanted to travel to Europe and I thought why not do that for a year and just play a bit of footy in between - it's a challenge I couldn't turn down."

"I was going to go over last year with Tom [Angel] after we got in contact with the club via Facebook and sent over a highlights video but it was all organised a bit late," the Kiama High School alumnus said.

"Word obviously got around that we were keen to go over and we had a few offers this year but with COVID-19, the competition wasn't offering visas.

"Tom's been unlucky with it all and has to stay at home for another year."

Instead of joining Gary Charlton's Haven squad in 2020, Morris, Angel and their Kiama Showground-based club set about defending their Group Seven premiership - which eventually saw them knocked out in the second week of the finals.

"We rated ourselves a lot higher than we performed," Morris said.

"We were in every game throughout the year - we lost three games by two points, where we held big leads and just couldn't get the job done.

"Being the champions, you've got to expect everyone coming for you and the competition was as strong as it's ever been this year.

"But we still set our standards a lot higher than we performed, so that was disappointing."

The former St George Illawarra under 20s player will now start to prepare for his departure in January, ahead of the season kick-off in March.

"I've done a little research on Whitehaven and the north-west of England and I'm expecting it to be very cold and quite different to Kiama," he said.

"I'm not putting any pressure on myself going over there, I'm just looking forward to the experience and letting it all play itself out - I'm happy to take it all in my stride and enjoy the ride.

"I've had some brief chats with the coaches about having a shot at the fullback position, which is the main target of mine.

"But I'm also happy to be thrown in at hooker or in the outside backs - wherever helps the team best.

"As I won't have to work over there, it'll give me a chance to rip into the gym and training, which hopefully helps me catch the eye of a few Super League clubs over there and hopefully extend my stay in England."

Morris' excitement to get over there is matched by his future coach Gary Charlton, who's been in charge of the side since 2018.

"Dylan looks an exceptional talent, he has plenty of pace, sharp footwork and is an exciting player," Charlton said in a statement.

"He knows how to score a try and that's always a bonus.

"We think he will complement what we have already and are looking forward to seeing him pull on the Whitehaven jersey."

Morris, the son of Steve 'Slippery' Morris, will join Culburra Beach's Adam Quinlan and Shellharbour's Jai Field as Group Seven products playing professionally in England in 2021.
