The Twenty20 competition has a new structure this summer, with the usual pool rounds replaced by a knockout format.
The Flames, featuring Batemans Bay product Rhys Voysey, will take on South Coast at Croome Cricket Oval, the winner to progress to next weekend's second round.
There they will play the victor of the clash between Central West and Orana, with a place in the semi-finals at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the line.
The University all-rounder will lead a talented squad, with club teammates Voysey, Andrew Page and Amit Balgi all selected.
Northern Districts quartet Jono Fowles, Joe and Xavier McDevitt, and Eric Denhartog were named, alongside Keira batsman Tane Nunn and Balgownie's Luke McGregor.
Rounding out the team are Port Kembla pair Andy Magennis and Aaryn Kornberger and Highlands' Matt Pike.
