THE Gerringong Breakers are the 2020 Football South Coast community league division one premiers after defeating the Port Kembla Pumas 2-1 in extra-time on Saturday.

At Ian McLennan Park, the league champions fell behind 1-nil thanks to a Jason Invernon goal for the Pumas in the fifth minute, before Rhyley Foenander even the ledger in the 53rd minute.
With neither team able to find the match-winner, the rainy grand final went to extra-time.
In the wet conditions, the Breakers held their nerves and Jordan Lando squeezed home the winner, in the 99th minute, past Pumas keeper Joshua Sebben.
The Pumas pushed hard for an equalised by the Breakers held onto secure Gerringong their maiden Football South Coast title - with Adam Martin being named man of the match.
"Port pressed us early and got a goal," Breakers coach Andy Lockard said.
"We have been using a clear shape and plan for more than five seasons now and the players know the little adjustments to make according to how the other team is playing.
"Once we made those adjustments, we regained better control of the game - we pushed on from there.
"It was an intense tussle and the Pumas pushed us all the way.
"The players and our supporters showed amazing faith in our capabilities to win the game after going a goal down.
"The fans support was deafening and the players' courage to stick to the plan was outstanding."
The 2020 season, which is the Gerry Emery Oval-based club's second in Football South Coast, has been a groundbreaking one for Gerringong.
"The grand final win, for me, is more of a relief than anything else," Lockard, who skippered the club to the 2018 Shoalhaven District Football Association crown, said.
"The club and town deserve it, although we have experienced how grand finals can go either way in the past.

"To be in Football South Coast is just a great thing for the club.
"Our efforts don't go unnoticed within the association.
"They just have a great football culture up here and appreciate a great club when they see one - everyone wants to take football forward in the Football South Coast association."
