THE Illawarra Academy of Sport has released its 2021 scholarship holders for cycling and this group includes seven junior members of the Nowra Velo Club.

Amelia and Curtis Trkulja are returning members of the IAS squad, having been included in this program for the past two years.
New to the squad from the NVC are Coby Muir, Josh Ludman, Ryan Fleming, Liam Wallis and Hugh Vaughan.
Along with these members of the cycling squad, Nowra Velo members Zara Jobson and Zac Peters and members of the IAS triathlon selections for 2021.
All of these junior members have raced regularly with the Nowra Velo Club throughout the 2020 season.
Amelia Trkulja is a state and national medallist with events on the velodromes while Curtis is rapidly developing class road rider with great climbing ability.
Coby Muir has dabbled in triathlon and mountain biking and is in his second year with Nowra Velo.
This 18-year-old lad from Ulladulla in the NVC's mountain climbing champion, a title he will be defending next week.
Liam Wallis was the NVC's most improved rider of 2019 while Josh Ludman has shown great potential during the year he has been racing with the NVC.
Josh races in the local B grade and is almost ready to take the step up to a higher grade.
Ryan Fleming has scored some wins in NVC events this year and has transferred from the IAS triathlon squad to the cycling team for 2021.
Hugh Vaughan is already an accomplished mountain bike competitor and has put in some impressive performances with the NVC during 2020.
Zac Peters is the youngest junior that races with Nowra Velo when he does not have triathlon commitments and has been a rapid improved with a dedicated and determined approach to his sport.
Zara Jobson has been racing with the NVC for two years, mostly in criterium events but has a style that is possibly more suited to road races.
The Nowra Velo Club has a planned program of varied racing for 2021 that will be beneficial to all there young cyclists along with the final events of 2020 that include club championships events on climbing, road racing and criterium events.
The IAS program will provide coaching, training and competition to improve athlete development with a view to develop the skill level of athletes which will enhance their opportunities for selection into state and national teams/squads and the NSWIS program as scholarship holders.
The IAS program will also provide an introduction and progression into sport-specific strength and conditioning, provide education around athletic development as well as personal development in topics such as nutrition, sports psychology, media skills, public speaking, youth leadership and drugs in sport.
