In a mayoral minute at the strategy and assets meeting on Tuesday, October 13 Amanda Findley asked council to conduct a road safety audit of the main roads of Worrigee including Isa Road, Rayleigh Drive and Old Southern Road.

Mayor Findley said she was concerned the behaviour of some drivers could lead to death.

"There is a lot of concern the hoonish behaviour could cause death at some point and if we can do a road safety audit and work with police to try and work out what can be done, then we are on a better pathway to carve some of the hoons down," she said.

"It may not solve the problem in the first instance but at least we can have a crack at having the problem solved."

Cr Mitchell Pakes said the motion was timely given the promised construction of a primary school in Worrigee.

"If there are any issues identified then maybe we can get them addressed by the state government when they do lock in construction of a new primary school in that area," he said.

"We all know that a primary school in that area is very important, and it is extremely important that it happens very quickly because a lot of our schools are at capacity, but it can't be done at the expense of our residents."

Cr Nina Digiglio raised issues about behavior in the Nowra CBD at Junction Court and near the pawn broker in Kinghorne Street. It was not adopted into the motion.

The motion was carried unanimously.
