Despite winning the recent Tweed Coast Pro, the former St Johns student was bundled out in the opening round of the South Stradbroke Island event on Tuesday.

In heat number one, the 26-year-old could only muster waves of 3.00 and 2.87, for a combined two-wave score of 5.87.

That saw her finish third in her heat behind Avoca's Macy Callaghan (7.26) and Sunshine Coast's Sophie McCulloch (6.06) - therefore eliminating her from the two-day competition.

When action resumes, Callaghan and McCulloch will face off in one semi-final, with Nikki Van Dijk and Isabella Nichols locking horns in the other.

In the men's side of the draw, Tyler's brothers fared marginally better.

Owen (9.57) finished second in his heat, behind Chris Bennetts (15.74) and ahead of Stuart Kennedy (8.46) - sealing his progression to the final eight.

But in the quarter-finals, Owen lost to impressive West Australian Jack Robinson, who chalked up 18.60 compared to Wright's 9.83 - eliminating the latter from the competition.

The only Wright left in contention is Mikey.

He opened the tournament with a second place in the opening round - scoring 10.13 to finish behind Wade Carmichael (14.87) and ahead of Soli Bailey (5.70).

When action resumes, Mikey will battle Cronulla's Connor O'Leary for a spot in the semi-finals.
