SHOALHAVEN Rugby Club has finished the 2020 Illawarra Rugby season in third place, after defeating Kiama 27-10 in the competition's final round. At the Kiama Showground, tries from Mark Brandon, Angus Maddinson and Blake Gurney set up the win for Shoals - with Brandon also adding two conversions and one penalty goal. The win, Shoals' fifth of the season, saw them move into outright third on 26 points, one ahead of Shamrocks - who smashed Campbelltown 43-7 on Saturday. As such, the Peter Woods Challenge Shield was won by Avondale, as they were minor premiers in the 2020 COVID affected Illawarra Rugby season. While the #talk2mebro Challenge Shield for second grade winners went to Vikings. Shoals' second grade side had the bye in the final round and finished the season in sixth with a 3-5 record.
