NORTH Nowra-Cambewarra product Philip Wells has been rewarded for his outstanding showing in the Sydney Cricket Association over the past 10 years, by being named in their team of the decade.
Heading into the 2020-21 campaign, Wells, since starting his Sydney career with St George in the 2004-05 season, has scored 10,025 runs from his 294 innings (averaging 42.12) - including 56 not out stands.
In particular, 8,284 of those 10,025 runs came between 2010 and 2019 - seeing his average bump up 45.27.
During his Sydney career, which involved stints at Bankstown and Campbelltown-Camden, the 33-year-old has 21 centuries and 55 half-centuries to his name, including a high-score of 190 not out.
Of note was the 2014-15 campaign with the Bulldogs, where he scored 1527 runs, including five centuries, at an average of 101.8.

That pile of runs saw him become the 14th player in history to average 100 in Sydney grade cricket for the season, leading to him being awarded competition's batsmen of the year - joining the likes of Victor Trumper, Sir Donald Bradman, Doug Walters and Monty Noble to do so.
