Gladesville Public School has committed $2000 to the bushfire-affected school's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program.
Both schools hope it is the start of an ongoing friendship between the city and rural kids. Students and staff from both schools will wear PJs and join a popcorn party via a video call.
Gladesville parents will wear pyjamas for the school drop-off and four cafes will donate funds every time a PJ-clad customer pops in for coffee.
Gladesville Public School principal Katherine Hurst and deputy Candice Barnard said the students were excited to learn about the South Coast school.
Ms Hurst said the Gladesville community - students, teachers, parents and cafe owners - wanted to support Mogo, and hoped the schools would form a long-term partnership.
Mogo Public School relieving principal Lyndall Schuchmann said the connection was a wonderful opportunity for the kids to have a fun day and to feel supported.
"Staff at Mogo are really thrilled at having the opportunity for staff from a city school taking such an interest," Ms Schuchmann said.
"We really value their input and their kindness."
She said the Mogo kids had pushed through the challenging year of bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.
"All of our kids have adjusted really well to the many adversities that have come across this year," Ms Schuchmann said.
"It's been a year of change for all of our kids. They're showing resilience and they're showing they want to learn."
As part of the partnership, students from both schools will dial in via video call for a bridge-building competition on September 22.
Students are sharing information about bridges in their respective regions and will design and build model bridges.
Students, teachers, school directors and parents will be involved in the friendly competition, and Mobililsing for Mogo coordinator Sallianne McClelland will be a judge.
