Back at Ron Costello Oval for the first time in a month, following three consecutive away fixtures, Abed Atallah's men started with plenty of urgency - resulting in the game's first try being scored within the opening two minutes.
A Matt Carroll bomb was diffused by Magpies fullback Flecther Winning before the ball spurted out when the latter hit the ground.
Sharks centre Matt Forsyth toed the loose ball forward and dived on it to score the hosts' opener.
Skipper Carroll landed the conversion and it was 6-nil.
Former Cootamundra Bulldog Forsyth had his second eight minutes later - this time charging onto a sharp pass from Carroll before planting it down with two hands.
Carroll's boot made it 12-nil after as many minutes.
But the winless Magpies weren't going to let the Sharks have it all their own way.
In the 15th minute, back and forward passing from Blake Phillips and Jack Cross gave the former just enough room to step through the Sharks' line and burrow his way over.
Half Billy Hayburn added the extras to reduce the margin to six.
But the Sharks' two-try advantage was reestablished in the less than 10 minutes later when back-rower Ryan McCracken powered over - again following a smart pass from Carroll.
Carroll slotted his third straight conversion for 18-6.
Just before the break, Kiran Tranter helped Forsyth score his third, to make it 22-6 at the break.
Wanting to end their losing streak, the visitors jumped out of the gates in the second half.
A moment of brilliance and desire by hooker Blake Dryden, where he scooted out of dummy-half, chipped, toed it through and won the race the ball, helped the Magpies grab their second.
Hayburn's kick brought the scores to 22-12 after 45 minutes.
But any momentum that gave Jayson Smith's men was thrown out the window as the Sharks scored their fourth in the 52nd minute.
Once again they attack down the left edge, with Kade Sampson this time floating a cut-out pass to Fuimanu Enese.
Carroll converted for 28-12.
Despite the deficit, the Magpies continued to fight leading to Winning showing his pace and galloping 50 metres to score, after a well-constructed play from a scrum.
With 10 to go, Phillips barged over for his second, following an inside ball from Dryden.
Hayburn's conversion gave the visitors hope, as it was 28-22.
But a late penalty goal and try from five-eighth Isaac Morris, following a darting run by Brody Rigg, secured the much-needed two points.
Carroll's sixth goal of the afternoon made it 36-22 at full-time.
The Sharks, who are now 3-3, next host Kiama on Sunday, while the Magpies take on the Stingrays at the Berry Showground on Saturday.
