However, the local events have attracted healthy fields and the 2020 Optus Series continues with close and hard racing from NVC members.
Riders from the Illawarra Cycle Club have the option of racing with the Nowra club or at Sutherland but not both, they must choose one or the other.
Nowra Velo racing has seen frequent entries from the Illawarra club with Shane Delfs prominent in the sprint finishes.
Local juniors have been prominent also with some fierce competition being provided by these younger members.
This group includes the Trkulja siblings, Amelia and Curtis along with Coby Muir, Josh Ludman, Brooklyn Henry, Ryan Fleming, Hugh Vaughan, Zac Peters, Zara Jobson and Freya Mills.
This local racing will continue next Sunday with round nine of the 2020 Optus Series which will also incorporate the long-running Vic and John Jones Memorial.
This will be a road race over 54 kilometres, starting from Wugan Street in the Albatross Aviation Tech Park at 8.30am.
Last year's winner of the Jones memorial was Tim Devlin who has shown fluctuating form this season.
The Optus Series team classification is led by the Coffeeliscious team with a 100 points margin over the Access Storage team.
The individual points classification in this Optus Series is dominated by Coffeeliscious team riders with Adrian McMillan leading on 146 ahead of green and black coloured teammates Jason Spence, Brendon Miller and Rob Pickard.
The 2020 Optus Series will continue into October and these last few months of the year will also feature the club championship series that include individual time trials, mountain climbs, road races and criteriums.
