At Flinders Field, the visitors opened the scoring in the 17th minute when prop Sean Payne outmuscled Stingrays' Anthony Nabbe - who became the club's first player to play 50 games in the top grade on Sunday - for the ball following Cam Vazzoler grubber.
The latter converted the four-pointer to make it 6-nil.
Vazzoler was heavily involved in the Knights' second, this time linking up with halves partner Tom Atkins to send back-rower Toby Nobes over.
Five minutes later, the hosts, fresh of their first Shellharbour Showdown win, got on the board when former Knight Hamish McLaurin grubbered the ball into the in-goal, with teammate Nabbe winning the race to the ball.
McLaurin converted to cut the deficit to six, which is how it remained until half-time.
A little more than one minute after the break, the Rays had their second - this time off the boot of half Zaan Weatherall.
After defusing the bomb, fullback Dylan Morris dropped the ball in his own in-goal, only for Hone Tukere to pounce on it first.
McLaurin added the extras and it was 12-all.
That scoreline didn't last long, as the visitors regained the lead when Vazzoler hit a rampaging Tom Angel with a pass to score four minutes later.
Vazzoler made it three from three with the boot and it was 18-12.
In the 53rd minute, Vazzoler floated to the right-hand side of the field and this time connected with Nobes for his second of the afternoon.
Vazzoler missed the kick and it was 22-12.
But the Rays wouldn't go away, as Chanse Perham dived over in the 59th minute, following a break by Ollie Williams.
McLaurin couldn't convert and the Rays trialled by six heading in the final quarter of the round six fixture.
When Nabbe barged over for his second of the match, the Knights' lead was trimmed to just two, with 18 to go.
But that was as close at the hosts got, as Angel's second - following a cut-out ball by Matt Morris - sealed the visitors win.
The premiers, who are now 3-2, host the Jets next, while the Rays travel to Cec Glenholmes Oval on Sunday to face the Gorillas.
