We wish the people of Lake Conjola could show similar concern for our unique native birds. Not a walk out to the entance via the boatramp is exempt from people walking their dogs past the No Dogs On Beach sign.
Now the breeding season for shore birds like the very rare Hooded Plover (down to about 80 birds only) has started it's vital for them to have a safe place to nest and raise young.
That's why the signs are there asking people not to take dogs to that end of the beach. Dogs are welcome over the new boardwalk and all of Conjola Beach.
Now stickers saying "no surrender" have appeared on the signs .
No surrender to what? The extinction of the hooded plover?
This bird exists only because concerned people work hard to keep small breeding areas like Conjola headland safe for them. Safe from the disturbance caused by curious dogs.
Please people, can't you spare some concern for our unique native birds now while they breed?
If you love animals and care for their welfare please show our birds some now when they need it.
Please don't take your dogs to the beach via the boat ramp.
Please respect the signs and keep out of the nesting area.
We want some of that nature loving Manyana spirit to catch fire on this side of the lake.
Is it too much to ask?

Impose huge fines on dumpers
Strengthen the illegal dumping fine for individuals to $5000.
This will surely make a significant difference in the thinking pattern of people who are likely to commit this kind of offence.
And in reality the fine should fit the offence and part of the fine should go to Council's to cover the cost of Council's being equired to spend rate payers funds policing dumping.
Yes $5000 and then watch the statistics drop.

Track plan a blatant rip-off
Re Shoalhaven City Council chargeing residents $500 a year to access track.
What a rip off. Certainly seems to fit under Menaces - a general threat of detrimental or unpleasant action that is implied because the person making the unwarranted demand holds a public office. Not to mention serious financial and emotional consequences for many of the 15 or so residents at this difficult time.
Asset & Works have a word to yourselves. One off charge with two registered keys $100 at best people.

Tell us your highway commitment
The Labor Member for Gilmore is all talk and no action. I recently saw her waiving around a petition trying to make out as if she has a commitment to upgrading the Princes Highway.
If this is the case, will she tell our community what Labor's commitment actually is ?
So far she has been unable or unwilling to explain her plan or detail any funding commitments to upgrade our Princes Highway along the South Coast.
Instead of gate crashing press conferences and claiming credit for other people's work, the federal member should be spending more time pressuring for action to actually get a commitment.
Perhaps she should take a leaf out of Gareth Ward's book.
So far it's been all talk and no action from this federal member.
Many of us had hoped for an improvement on our last federal MP! What a disappointment!
