After having the 2020 Waratah League finals taken off them, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the new NSW government protocols have now forced the cancellation of the junior competition at the new Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre.
The Shoalhaven-based under 14 boys challenge, as well as the under 14 girls competition, scheduled to be played at Maitland, have both been cancelled.
"The decision is highly disappointing especially for our teams that have been working really hard for this weekend," Shoalhaven Basketball Association president Maddison Hanlon said.
"The call about the whole competition should have been made earlier in the season but I understand we are in unprecedented times - hopefully next year will be back playing again."

This could be the first of numerous cancellations by Basketball NSW, who are meeting on Wednesday night to determine the future of the under 12s, 16 and 18s country challenges, as well as the Waratah League seasons - which involves numerous Shoalhaven products, playing for both Illawarra and Moss Vale.
In recent weeks, the Waratah League has already implemented protocols such as one spectator per participant and increased hygiene practices limiting the risk of transmission.
