Vincentia Matters Secretary Liz Tooley said it was good to see the project moving forward but urged local MPs to listen to the community.
"We're pleased the process is going forward but the community is speaking loudly and clearly that the only acceptable solution to safety and congestion at the intersection is a flyover," Vincenia Matters secretary Liz Tooley said.

"The petition of more than 10,000 signatures shows unmistakably that the community, the users of the intersection, overwhelmingly supports the flyover option for the promised upgrade of the intersection."
Kiama MP Gareth Ward welcomed the appointment of Arcadis and said the preferred intersection option would be announced by the end of the year.
"We know how important the upgrade of this intersection is for the community to improve safety and prevent crashes, while at the same time easing congestion along this busy stretch of road," Mr Ward said.
"We have heard the views of the community and are now working towards a preferred option which we hope to present to the community by the end of the year."
South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said a safer and more reliable intersection is the priority.
"It is obvious that the community share the same sentiment and we will consider their feedback along with further traffic modelling and field studies to identify a preferred option," she said.
Vincentia Matters said it would be closing its petition a week early, to urgently get it to Parliament House so it can be presented by Christmas.
Signatures will be collected up to 12 noon on Saturday, August 22.
