With the black and golds not nominating a team for the revamped 2020 Waratah League competition, Brayden Morris, Kyle Leslie and Josh Watts decided to take their talents to the Moss Vale Magic.
And hasn't it paid dividends.
Headlined by the Shoalhaven trio, the Magic currently sit in third place on the division two youth men's ladder.
They opened the season with a 94-66 win against the Hornsby Ku Ring Gai Spiders.
The Magic then lost a nail-biter 68-65 to the Inner West Bulls Black.
But they learnt from that defeat, to rattle off four straight wins against Camden Valley (82-76), Hawkesbury (80-64), Newcastle (forfeit win due to COVID concerns) and Hills (83-68).
The Magic next face the St George Saints Red at Hurstville Aquatic Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Following that fixture, the Magic play five of their final six games at home - before the finals tip-off.
