To mark the occasion locally, a short ceremony will be performed at the Nowra cenotaph at the memorial gates at the Nowra Showground.

Representatives of the Nowra RSL Sub-Branch will be present, while members of the Shoalhaven City Pipes and Drums will play Battle O'er.

The short service will start at 9.30am.

Members of the public are invited to attend, however strict COVID-19 protocols and precautions, including social distancing, will be undertaken.

Wreaths will also be laid during the ceremony.

Nowra RSL Sub-Branch secretary Debby Rayner said it is an important anniversary that will be marked by a "very short service".

"It is just about marking the day with a short commemoration," she said."

Victory in the Pacific Day - or 'VP Day' - is commemorated across Australia and the world, the anniversary of the day World War II ended. A date many will never forget.
