Earlier - 4.25pm - Fire truck loses rear wheels at Kinghorne Street and Albatross Road roundabout
Detours are in place around the Kinghorne Street/Albatross Road roundabout, after a firetruck lost its two rear wheels.
NSW Fire and Rescue Senior Firefighter Andy Coppin said the incident happened at about 1.30pm, as he and a crew member where returning from several fire calls.
"As we were coming around the roundabout the rear wheels came off - I saw one roll past the truck," he said.
Luckily the quick-thinking driver put on the brakes before there was any harm done. The truck was not travelling at speed or under lights and sirens at the time.
Truck and Tractor Nowra has responded and hopes to have the truck moving before 5pm.
The truck will be taken for further inspection once it is back at the station.
Until then, please take care if you are in the area.
