Evan Larry Kershaw, of Nowra, has admitted to his role in the violent home invasion, although his alleged co-offender remains before the courts.
Dressed in prison greens Kershaw, 33, appeared over audio visual link in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, July 28, where he pleaded guilty to possessing an unauthorised firearm, firing a gun at a house with disregard for safety, and aggravated enter of a dwelling with intent in company.
The agreed statement of facts on sentencing for the matter state the victims are a father, mother and son who lived on a rural property at Coolagolite, which is near Cobargo.
In April 2018, the family was asleep when they were woken around 2.30am by the sound of men yelling on their property.
The father opened a door and saw Kershaw holding what appeared to be a rifle and his co-offender allegedly holding a shotgun.
The father closed the door, dropped to the ground and the co-offender allegedly fired a shot into the door around head height, then another shot was allegedly fired through the kitchen window.
The father called Triple Zero and his son woke to the commotion and ran to ask neighbours for help.
The next day neighbours found two guns they did not own on their property, a 12-gauge shotgun and a bolt-action .22 calibre rifle, and police later confirmed both were registered to the co-offender in the matter.
When police searched the victims' property they found a number of broken windows at the house, a number of vehicles that appeared to have been shot at, and shotgun holes at the house's door and kitchen window.
In court on Tuesday, Magistrate Doug Dick confirmed a further amended charge certificate had been added to Kershaw's matter and confirmed two other charges against him had been withdrawn.
Magistrate Dick accepted the three guilty pleas, refused bail and committed the matter for sentencing in Bega District Court on October 19.
The alleged co-accused's case has been sent to trial and will be mentioned in district court in August.
