The wind, rain and large surf are predicted to continue until Tuesday, July 28.
Emergency service teams are currently on the Princes Highway at Falls Creek clearing a tree off the road.
The highway was closed but traffic has just started to move.
Minor flooding warnings have been issued for the Shoalhaven River, St Georges Basin and Bega River.
The SES recommends people near those water catchments start to prepare and keep up to date with current advice.
"From Monday into Tuesday, rainfall associated with a low pressure system has the potential to cause local and minor riverine flooding across New South Wales South Coast catchments," a SES spokesperson said.
"A low pressure system off the central part of New South Wales coast is forecast to bring rain and showers in the east, together with vigorous southerly winds and damaging surf conditions along southern and central parts of the coast today.
"The weather system is expected to cause flooding for the catchments from late Monday onwards."
A lot of rain has fallen across the Shoalhaven on Monday. In under four hours, from 9am to 12:30pm on July 27, 40 mm has been recorded in Nowra, 41mm in Jervis Bay, 58 mm in Ulladulla.
Yesterday Nowra received 125mm of rain, Jervis Bay received 105mm and Ulladulla was the highest with 149mm falling.
