During the only match at the Nowra Showground - as COVID-19 concerns saw the Shoalhaven junior fixtures (under 9s, 11s, 13s and 15s girls) cancelled - the hosts jumped out to a four-point lead (2.0-12 to 1.2-8) at the first break.
The visitors dominated the second quarter, kicking three goals to none, to go into half-time up by 13 points.
The black and gold closed the margin to just five at the end of the third before a late Evan Larkins goal secured the Tigers the 5.7-37 to 5.4-34 victory.
In the win, Larkins kicked two goals, while Hayden Batson, Oliver Edwards and Dylan Johnstone all booted one.
Other standouts for the Tigers were Charlie Dunn, Keanu Clarke and Lachlan Almond.
In the loss, Mitchell Jones (two), Noah Reid, Kalin Dorn and Thor Hage kicked majors - with Jed Ware and Oliver Dyason also performing strongly for the Seahawks.
Elsewhere in the Illawarra under 15s competition, Wollongong Lions defeated Kiama Power Lightning 7.13-55 to 7.4-46, Shellharbour smashed Dockers/Bombers 11.9-75 to 3.6-24 and Northern Districts thumped Kiama Power Thunder 10.17-77 to 4.4-28 - with Figtree having the bye.
In round two, Figtree host the Lightning, Lions take on Thunder, Swans clash with Norths, Seahawks lock horns with Dockers/Bombers and Tigers have the bye.
