The bioluminescence has again been prominent at a number of locations in the Bay, proving popular again with residents and local photographers.

The blue tide, as it is known, is the production and emission of light by a living organism.

It is a form of chemiluminescence, which occurs widely in marine vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as in some fungi, microorganisms including some bioluminescent bacteria, and terrestrial arthropods such as fireflies.

Its return to Jervis Bay has again attracted lots of attention, with locals flocking to beaches after dark to capture a glimpse and a photograph of the incredible phenomena.

Well-known local photographers Dannie and Matt Connolly again headed out and captured some beautiful images of the bioluminescence at Barfluer Beach just north of Plantation Point.

There has been reports of the natural wonder on other beaches throughout Jervis Bay.
