The four dedicated volunteers make it a weekly outing to check the bait stations on the three properties at Berry, Harley Hill and the Crookhaven River.
Peter Jirgens, the Northern Project Leader of the Shoalhaven Fox Control Program, is thrilled with the results the volunteer team have achieved.
"This goes to show that it is possible to reduce fox numbers through the consistent efforts of our volunteers," said.
"This will help give wildlife that are using these areas as refuges following the Black Summer Bushfires a chance to survive and repopulate."
Southern Project Leader Ron Cowlishaw said the volunteers were vital to the success of the Shoalhaven Fox Control Program, as they do the important work of making sure the baits are checked, replaced and recorded.
The program wanted to get people in the Milton area involved.
"We are keen to keep expanding southward to Milton and westward to Burrier but we need volunteers and property owners to get on board," Mr Cowlishaw said.
An upcoming event is the perfect way for more people to get involved.
The Shoalhaven Fox Control Program is holding a field day and invites all current volunteers and property owners involved in the program and any new volunteers or property owners who are interested in reducing the impact of foxes in their area.
"The field day is an opportunity to find out how you can be involved in reducing fox numbers in your area either as a volunteer or a property owner," Mr Jirgens said.
"It's also a chance for all our volunteers to meet one another and share their experiences."
On the day there will be experts on hand to talk about fox control strategies and techniques and answer questions on fox behaviour, fox control and what the Shoalhaven Fox Control Program is about.
The field day will be held on Friday July 24 2020 from 2pm to 4:30pm at the Cambewarra Estate Winery, 520 Illaroo Rd, Bangalee.
RSVP by July 20th to Peter Jirgens at peter@jirgens.com.au or 0488 460 011.
